CHENNAI: Saina Nehwal and Sayali Gokhale reached the quarterfinal in women's singles while five Indian male shuttlers also made it to the last eight stage of the India Open Grand Prix badminton tournament on Thursday.
Top seed Saina snuffed out compatriot Dhanya Nair's challenge 21-9, 21-9, while Sayali tamed another Indian Gayatri Vartak 21-15, 21-12 to reach the quarters.
In the men's section, top seed Chetan Anand battled past Saurabh Verma but fourth seed Arvind Bhat, sixth seed Anand Pawar, P Kashyap and RMV Gurusaidutt recorded facile wins to sail into the quarterfinals.
